POSITION: Transport Trailer Mechanic

LOCATION: Mississauga, ON

REPORTS TO: Shop Manager

SALARY LEVEL: Negotiable – Based on Experience

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Perform all maintenance and inspections on all Transport Trailers that are in service for operation. Ensure that all trailers are prepared to offer the highest level of service to our customers while providing safe transport of goods throughout our service area.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of college, vocational or technical training
  • Any certificates, licenses, memberships and courses in addition would be considered an asset
  • Experience Driving a Transport Truck is considered an asset
  • Valid Drivers License ('Class 1' or 'A', Air Brake 'Z' endorsement, Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration 'CVOR' Certificate) would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the various trailer types and trailer components
  • Ability to read and complete reports
  • Experience working with electric and electronic systems, diagnostics, alignment, suspension, brake systems, hydraulic systems and cooling and heating systems
  • Experience with auto-body repairs, collision repairs, frame straightening, fiberglass repair and welding would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work a variable work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and communicate effectively with other mechanics, drivers, clients, terminal managers, terminal personnel and dispatchers

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to follow instructions and policies and procedures  
  • Test, adjust, repair and replace mechanical systems – adjust to specifications 
  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance to equipment 
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance for all safety equipment, gauges, fluid levels, lighting system, and check to ensure that all electrical systems are operational 
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions 
  • Complete reports to report problems and on worked performed 
  • Must be able to perform physical work at times (lifting in excess of 50lbs)  
  • Require the use of safety tools and equipment, including all forms of Personal Protective Equipment, to be work at all times 
  • Adhere to all ProNorth Transportation service standards and policies, including Health & Safety  
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
