POSITION: Finance and Administration Manager

LOCATION: North Bay Head Office

REPORTS TO: President, Vice-President/ General Manager

SALARY LEVEL: Negotiable – Based on Experience

ProNorth Transportation is a Full Truck Load (FTL) and Less Than Truck Load (LTL) common carrier with Corporate Headquarters located in North Bay, Ontario. Our years of experience allow us to provide unequalled service levels to our North American client base.


The Finance and Administration Manager provides both operational and programmatic support to the organization. They supervise the finance unit and are responsible for all financial accountability for the organization. The Finance and Administration Manager will have a matrix reporting relationship, reporting to the President and to the Vice President/ General Manager. The incumbent will directly assist the organization on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, future budget planning, cost benefit analysis and forecasting.


  • The successful candidate will have extensive experience working within the transportation industry (Trucking)
  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree at an accredited University, specializing in Business Administration/ Commerce/Finance and/ or Accounting
  • Certified Management Accounting or Certified General Accounting Designation
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a senior finance role with day-to-day financial operations of an organization of at least 50 employees
  • Proficient with the use of a computer, including the use of Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word), ICC (AS400) and Ceridian  
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and taxation for privately owned business
  • Recognize and be responsive to the needs of all clients 
  • Supervise staff of approximately 5 people, including the completion of regular progress reviews and plans for improvement
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills; organizational planning and time management skills


  • Ensure the company meets required financial management and reporting standards
  • Perform some executive responsibilities as part of the management team as required and/or requested 
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance for key tactical and operational initiatives
  • Assist in the design, implementation,  and timely calculations of wage incentives, commissions and salaries for staff
  • Oversee business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis
  • Provide financial leadership  to strategic and operational planning for the business
  • Responsible for the development and operation of financial systems. Manage cash flow, monitor internal financial systems, manage preparation for financial statements and make recommendations for improvements to internal systems and procedures
  • Responsible for cash forecasting. Coordinate the development and administration of operating and capital budgets
  • Provide financial analysis to identify short/ long term opportunities and risks
  • Adhere to all ProNorth Transportation service standards and policies, including Health & Safety
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
